Scanned resume guide

If your PDF is a photograph or scan of paper, there is no selectable text to convert. ResumeToWord will stop those files in P0 rather than invent text or drop pages silently.

Formatting may change. Review your document after conversion.

How we treat scans today

The converter looks for enough extractable text per page. Image-only or mixed pages that would omit meaningful content are rejected with a clear scanned/image-only message.

We do not run silent OCR, do not paste page images into Word as a fake “conversion,” and do not treat scans as a supported input in this paid flow.

OCR availability

Optical character recognition (OCR) is not available yet. The upload screen has no OCR option, and we do not convert scanned PDFs until that capability ships with its own limits and review.

Until then, a text-based PDF is required. If the UI says the file looks scanned, treat that as a hard stop for this product stage — not a temporary glitch.

What you can do instead

Prefer an original digital resume: open the Word or Docs source and export PDF, or rebuild the short sections you need and export again.

Phone photos of printed CVs will not pass. Desktop “print to PDF” of a scan is still a scan. After you have a text-based PDF, convert on the home page and review formatting as usual.

  • Text you can highlight in a PDF viewer is a good sign.
  • A full-page image with no highlightable text will be rejected.
  • Formatting may change. Review your document after conversion.
